FACT: Due to department budget cuts, district-wide staffing cuts, changes to health care benefits and across the board pay cuts for all employees, we think we will be able to protect class sizes in at least the core content areas. As we look at projected individual class sizes, we have noticed the occasional 30 plus students in a class and are working with Principals to address this issue.
FACT: We are reducing building positions by 50 FTE and district-wide positions by up to 20 FTE. The district-wide number isn’t concrete as of yet, as we are still working through the budget process in some of our departments. These numbers are a drastic improvement from our worst-case scenario from last fall of 100-120 positions due to the cuts mentioned above.
FACT: Employees in the District work 183-days (Teachers), 205-days (Elementary School Principals), 215-days (Secondary Principals) and 261-days (District Office Staff). There are only 13 Administrators in the District who work a year-round, 261-day contract.
FACT: Mirroring the current school year’s pay cut, all employees will take a 1.5% pay cut for the 2012-13 school year. This amount was negotiated with the Eagle County Education Association and all other non-teaching employees will follow suit.
FACT: The Superintendent rents, at market value, employee housing owned by the District. There is no expense to the District to own this house, as the developer gave the housing unit to the District. The Superintendent does not receive a housing allowance as part of her contract.
