The Education Foundation of Eagle County (EFEC) Asks For Help to Fund and Preserve Vital Educational Programs and Curriculum in Eagle County Schools. EFEC’s website, www.efec.org, was launched on December 14, 2011 and is accepting your donations.
Eagle County community members have come together to create a solution to help mitigate Eagle County Schools District’s $14.5 million in budget cuts. Ballot Measure 3B, the mill levy override to mitigate state education funding cuts failed in November. EFEC is asking those who voted in favor of 3B and those passionate about quality education in Eagle County to become part of the funding solution.
EFEC is asking parents, businesses and community members to donate the incremental tax dollars they would have paid if 3B had passed. The immediate goal of EFEC is to raise capital to mitigate drastic district wide budget cuts. Tessa Kirchner, Eagle County Schools’ Board of Education member, and a board member of EFEC says, “The top priority of EFEC is to maintain an excellent learning experience for all students.“ Ms. Kirchner continued, “The long term goal is to establish a viable foundation that allows advocacy for and retention of qualified teachers in front of students through programs, grants, and sponsorships.”
EFEC is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. At www.efec.org/donation the tax you would have paid if 3B had passed is illustrated. There has never been a more critical time to contribute. A great public education system is what Eagle County expects and what all children and communities deserve.
