Hands-On Science for BCES

Hands-On Science for BCES

Huge congratulations to Chelsea Mitzelfelt and her 4th-grade class at Brush Creek Elementary! Thanks to an EFEC Classroom Grant, they'll be diving into hands-on learning with Mystery Science supplies.

“The 4th grade team at Brush Creek Elementary would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you and your generous sponsors for the grant that provided all 3 of our 4th grade classes with the hands-on (consumable) science materials for this school year. Your support has already had a profound impact on our students, helping to bring abstract science concepts to life in a way that excites and engages them.

So far, our students have explored topics like stored energy and energy transfer, using the materials your grant provided. Through experiments like building "bumper coasters" and testing how rubber bands store and release energy, they have seen these concepts come to life. To witness their excitement and sense of discovery as they engage in activities that allow them to directly interact with science has been truly amazing. Studies show that hands-on learning boosts retention to 75%, compared to only 5% with passive methods, and we’re already seeing this impact in the classroom.

Thank you again for your generosity and commitment to supporting our classrooms. Your contribution is making a lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to provide these hands-on and impactful learning experiences for our students.” - Chelsea
